Loud explosions were heard Monday evening on Israel's border with Syria on the Golan Heights. IDF soldiers were rushed to the border to ensure that it had not been breached. A spokesperson for the army said that it appeared that a large bomb or missile had struck right over the border, and that a pitched battle between rebels and Syrian army troops was in progress.

No injuries or damage was reported on the Israeli side of the border.
