With the breakup of Kadima, it is expected that the balance of “unaffiliated” MKs will be seeking new political homes, and on Monday, Defense Minister Ehud Barak, head of the Atzama'ut Party, said he would welcome Kadima MKs on board – but not more than seven of them. Barak said that he would be happy to have MKs who are interested in helping draft alternatives to the Tal Law on IDF exemptions.

“We will seriously deal with this issue, because it affects everyone,” Barak said of the Tal Law alternative legislation. “But the Atzma'ut Party under no circumstances will be able to accept more than seven MKs from parties that are considering their political futures,” he added.
