The Likud party responded, Monday afternoon, to criticism leveled by Chairman Shaul Mofaz of the Kadima party by saying, "Mofaz has become the chairman of a quarter of a faction. Even those who sat next to him don't believe his slogans." Currently the largest faction in the Knesset, pollsters predict Kadima will lose three quarters of its strength in the next elections.
Referring to Mofaz's statement of loyalty to the Likud before he joined Kadima, the statement continued, "Just as they didn't believe him when he said 'One doesn't leave home," they don't believe him when he talks about equal burden of service. They all remember what Mofaz perhaps forgot, that he's the one who approved the Tal Law [which gives deferments to hareidi yeshiva students] when he enthusiastically voted for it in the cabinet in 2007."
