The cabinet endorsed, Sunday, a bill by Education Minister Gid'on Sa'ar that calls for supervision over the food provided by and sold at schools. The measure is expected to receive its initial reading in the Knesset this week.

The proposal calls for the Education Minister to consult with the Health Minister regarding the nutritional composition of the food and their decision will be passed on to schools and students. Vendors will be required to publish the nutritional composition and values of the food they sell, and if it does not meet the standards set by the ministers, they will face fines of thousands of shekels.
