Az-Zahar: Egypt to Probe Reconciliation Failure

Mahmoud Az-Zahar, the foreign minister of the Hamas government in Gaza, said, Sunday, that the Egyptian government will soon send a delegation to Gaza and another one to Judea and Samaria, in an attempt to produce a report, within two months, on who is holding back reconciliation between his terror group and the Fatah faction of Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas.

During an interview with the Bethlehem-based Ma'an news agency, during which he denied a report by Al-Hayat that Hamas was declaring Gaza's independence from Israel, Az-Zahar said an Egyptian committee would be visiting Gaza within a week to discuss ways to remove what he called Israel's siege of Gaza in a gradual or complete manner. He predicted that the blockade would be removed within a year, explaining that new Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi supports the move.
