Jerusalem: Additional Police for First Ramadan Friday

Jerusalem police were prepared for the first Friday of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan with reinforced ranks. Thousands of police deployed in the Old City and other neighborhoods in the eastern part of the capital.

For the first time in years, permission is being granted to men more than 40 years old from the Palestinian Authority to pray in or around the Al-Aksa mosque on the Temple Mount without the need to obtain a permit. A limited number of permits is being issued for qualifying younger Muslims to pray there.
