German Parliament Passes Pro-Circumcision Resolution

The Bundestag, Germany's lower house of parliament, passed a resolution, Thursday, calling on the government to draft a bill by autumn that guarantee that circumcision be allowed. The resolution followed the declaration by a court in Cologne banning the practice as "severe and illegal involvement in the completeness of an infant's body".

The furor raised among Germany's Jewish and Muslim communities over the ruling was the focal point of discussions, three weeks ago between Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin and Bundestag president Norbert Lammert.
