Ze'ev Jabotinsky Lives on in Special Memorial Event

The Menachem Begin Heritage Center, the Council for the Commoration of Ze'ev Jabotinsky and the Prime Minister's Office are sponsoring a lecture entitled The Social Economic Agenda of Ze'ev Jabotinsky. The event marks the 72th anniverary of his passing. Former Foreign Minister Prof. Moshe Arens, Former Finance Minister Yoram Aridor, and the current Fianance Minister Dr. Yuval Steinitz will speak at the event.

Ze'ev Jabotinsky was a founder of the Jewish Legion, the first Jewish fighting force since the time of the Romans. He advocated a patriotic and nationalistic stance on Israel. He was against Socialism and strikes and was skeptical of the Histadrut labor union. He believed the future government of Israel should ensure that its citizens would not be lacking in what he called the Five Mems; food, clothing, shelter, education and health care, or in Hebrew, mazon, malbush, maon, moreh, and marpeh.

The event will be held Thursday, July 19, 2012 at 8:00pm at the Menachem Begin Heritage Center in Jerusalem.
