A plenary session will be held in the Knesset, Wednesday, on the purchase of property for the Jewish community on the Binyamin-region hilltop of Migron. The Knesset House Committee approved the session, following the appeal of Knesset member Aryeh Eldad (National Union) against a decision by the Knesset presidium not to schedule discussion of the matter.
The purchase was apparently made by American Zionists to prevent the eviction of the Jewish community from the hilltop under a Supreme Court order. A hearing is scheduled for Wednesday on a petition by the residents not to be evicted as a result of the purchase from a Palestinian Authority (PA) Arab, whose identity is being kept private to protect the Arab from a potential death penalty, under PA law, for selling land to Jews. In welcoming the committee decision, MK Eldad said there is no legal reason to remove the residents from Migron.
