Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin told the Knesset presidium, Monday, that he intends to extend the Knesset's summer session to the start of August, if not beyond, to pass a uniform draft law to replace the Tal Law, which provided draft referrals for hareidi yeshiva students. He said, "This is a topic that requires a decision, and the Knesset cannot interrupt its deliberations for formalizing it, only because of the date of the break. If the government initiates legislation to the Knesset next week, the last week of the session, I will ask the House Committee to approve the request for an extension of the session to complete the discussions this matter."
Rivlin continued, "If the request is rejected by the House Committee, I intend to continue the last meeting of the Knesset into the break, until the discussions are finished and the law is approved. This is of great public importance that the Knesset cannot ignore."
