PA: Visiting Jerusalem is Part of Struggle for It

Mahmoud Al-Habash, the Palestinian Authority Minister for Religion and Religious Endowments, said, Monday, that Arab visits to Jerusalem were part of the struggle to break what he called the Israeli siege on the city. Speaking at a gathering organized by the PA's Ministry of Information in the Samarian (Shomron) city of Salfit, Al-Habash said Israel was trying to separate the capital from its Arabic and Muslim space.

The minister said that those who would prohibit visits to Jerusalem as a sign of normalization with Israel are helping what he called Israel's plans to empty the city of its Arabs. Sheikh Ali Juma, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, was harshly criticized in Islamic circles for his recent visit to the Al-Aqsa mosque, whose preservation and protection is a constant Arab propaganda theme.
