Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange posted modest losses at the end of Sunday's first day of trading for the week. The TA Composite Index stood at 961.11, down .39 percent, while the TA 100 declined .46 percent to 968.33, including a .78 percent decline by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues. The 50 stocks just outside the TA 100 rose .42 percent to 351.67.
The biomed index led the gainers, advancing 1.36 percent to 733.65, while the rest of the technology issues fell .65 percent to 336.58. The insurance stocks advanced .15 percent to 780.44, but the financial institutions retreated .85 percent to 765.45 as the bank index slumped 2.15 percent to 851.93. The oil and natural gas issues finished the day at 1,002.26, down 1.73 percent, followed by the communications and media stocks, which declined .43 percent to 409.03, and the real estate index, which slipped .09 percent to 257.23.
