Law Would Require Faster Compensation for Survivors

The Ministerial Law Committee on Sunday endorsed for legislation a law that would require the government organization responsible for identifying assets belonging to Holocaust survivors an additional sum of money for their personal use, if they need it. The law will also require the organization to substantially cut the amount of time required to identify assets, and ensure that they are transferred to the survivors at the earliest possible time.

The law was sponsored by MK Ze'ev Bielski (Kadima). He expressed satisfaction at the committee's approval of the law, saying that “when it comes to Holocaust  survivors we cannot afford any delays.”
