Social activist Steev Shapir said that Moshe Silman, the man who had set himself on fire at a protest in Tel Aviv Saturday night “was one of the many victims of government policy, except that he went public” with his suffering. “This is a clear crisis for us, and for the government,” she said. “This victim went public, but many others suffer silently.
“I have been very afraid that something like this would happen. This shows we must take the social protests a step further. I wish him a full recovery, and hope that we shall not see more victims like this.” Doctors Saturday night said that the man had suffered serious injuries, but that there was no danger to his life.
