President Shimon Peres is set to meet with Sephardic Chief Rabbi Shlomo Amar Sunday. The meeting, to take place at Peres' home, comes in the wake of the public debate over the drafting of Yeshiva students to the IDF. Because of the rancorous nature of the debate, the two decided to meet to encourage more unity among the Jewish people.
The two will also discuss plans to replace the Tal Law. The law, which until now regulated exemptions to IDF service, is due to expire at the end of the month. No replacement law has been drafted yet.
