One person is killed every 40 minutes in Syria, according to figures released by opposition groups Friday.

The figures show that 128 people were killed in Syria during the first month of the uprising, in March of 2011, whereas in March of this year 2,000 were killed. 

In total, 17,830 people were killed in Syria since March 2011 and until June of this year, of which 1,344 are children and 1,290 women. 679 died while being tortured, 50,300 have been injured, and over 65,000 are missing.
