On Sunday, the Ministerial Committee on Legislation is scheduled to discuss a bill on direct employment by public bodies.
On Monday afternoon, a conference on preventing contract-labor in public employment is scheduled for the Jerusalem Hall of the Knesset building. One of the initiators, Meretz party leader Zahava Gal-On said, in a media release, that the scope of the practice is widening and is problematic because the state "is crumbling from its direct responsibility for running the most basic services with which it is entrusted, and leads to a serious violation of workers rights on salaries and social conditions. Contract workers in the civil service are subject to dismissal without supervision, they have no employment continuity and they can not accumulate seniority." Co-organizer Chaim Katz, who heads the Knesset Health, Welfare and Labor Committee, said the struggle crosses party lines and the committee will stand at the struggle's service.
