Enough Evidence for Indictments in Hadrei Hareidim Case

The Central Investigative Unit of the Jerusalem police made it clear, Thursday, that there was an evidentiary basis for indictments in the Hadrei Hareidim blackmail case. The statement followed the recent conclusion of their investigation and submission of their findings to prosecutors.

The head of the hareidi Web Site, his deputy, the content director and a mediator between the site and the victims are suspected of extorting and attempting to extort hundreds of thousands of shekels from about 20 victims over the past couple of years in exchange for not posting negative material about the victims on the site. Police say part of the evidence was based on intelligence information, following the refusal of some of the victims to file complaints and give evidence for fear of damaging their reputations.
