Red Cross says Worker Killed in Syria

The president of the Syrian Red Crescent aid organization, which is affiliated with the Red Cross, said Tuesday that a Red Crescent worker was shot and killed in the town of Deir al-Zor. The man, Khaled Khaffaji, was the fifth Red Crescent worker to be killed in fighting in Syria.

President Abdul Rahman al-Attar called Khaffaji’s death “completely unacceptable,” Reuters reported. “All sides must respect health-care workers,” Attar said.
