Priority for Those who Donate Organs for Relatives OKd

The Knesset Labor, Welfare and Health Committee approved, Monday, a bill to add people who donate organs to family members to the list of those who have priority in receiving organ donations. Currently, priority is only given to someone who donates an organ to an unknown recipient. The committee also voted to make the priority or eligibility status retroactive for all those who have already donated.

Committee Chairman Chaim Katz expressed hope that the measure will be brought before the full Knesset for its final approval next week.
