PA Seeks International Inquiry on Arafat's Death

Chief negotiator Saeb Erekat of the Palestinian Authority said, Sunday, that PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas has asked French President Francois Hollande to act to set up an international board of inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death of the PA's first chairman, Yasser Arafat. Interviewed by the Bethlehem based Ma'an news agency, Dr. Erekat made it clear that if such a panel is not established, the PA will ask the Arab League to set up an international Arab investigation, adding that Arab League Secretary-General Nabil AlAraby agreed to honor the request and that a meeting on the subject will be held in the upcoming weeks.

A Swiss laboratory found traces of radioactive element polonium on Arafat's clothing, leading the PA to agree exhume the terrorist's body for further testing, according to Al-Jazeera. A report by Israel Defense on Friday indicates that Arafat suffered from flu complications and was sent into shock by a blood transfusion after showing improvement at a French hospital.
