      Yechimovich: PM Bumbling Draft Issue

Opposition figures slammed Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu Sunday for his latest comments on extending IDF or national service to all Israelis, and for the Likud's adoption of the Plesner Committee recommendations, despite his announcement last week that the committee had been disbanded.. Labor head MK Shelly Yechimovich said that Netanyahu's management of the draft issue “is set from news flash to news flash. It is sad to see how one of the most sensitive and complicated issues in the country is being made a mockery of,” she added.

In a statement, Defense Minister Ehud Barak's Atzma'ut faction said that setting a new law to replace the Tal Law to regulate exemptions from the IDF and national service was “a historical opportunity to unify the nation. This must take into account the IDF's needs and other issues.”
