The Temple Mount Faithful organization on Sunday filed a lawsuit with the High Court demanding that the state intervene to prevent construction being conducted on the “foundation stone” on the Temple Mount. The stone is located at the center of the Dome of the Rock Mosque on the Temple Mount, and is reputed to be the same rock that Abraham used to sacrifice Isaac in the Akeda story in the Bible.
A report in Makor Rishon last week documented construction being conducted in the mosque that included pylons mounted on the stone. The stone, said the lawsuit, is a holy site for Jews, and the Wakf authorized construction on it in contradiction to Israeli law. The lawsuit demands that responsibility for the site be taken from the Wakf and given to the Chief Rabbinate.
