Residents of the Samarian community of Migron are seeking a legal injunction to prevent the identity of an Arab land seller to be revealed. Under Palestinian Authority law, it is illegal to sell land to Jewish people under penalty of death. This week residents of Migron bought the land for an undisclosed sum from an undisclosed individual.
The community of Migron was built 1999 and re-founded in 2001 with government approval on land within Area C on Samaria. In 2006 the Peace Now organization filed a petition with the Supreme Court to try and have the residents evicted stating the land was privately owned by Arab residents of the Palestinian Authority. The Supreme Court ordered the community removed until the matter is settled, but deadlines for the removal have been extended.
