Israeli Death Rate from Diabetes Higher than in Europe

The death ratefrom diabetesinIsrael is 2.5 times higher thanaveragein 19European countries, according to anew report by theMinistry of Health, highlights of whichwere presented, Tuesday morningon Israel Defense Forces Radio.The report also revealsthat the mortality ratefor kidneydisease isalmost three timesas high as in Europe.

The ministry explainedthat the Israelipopulation is eatingmoreunhealthy food,smokes more, and does notinvestenoughin physical activity.At the same time,some doctorsarguethat the source ofthe gapbetween Israel and Europeis due todifferentmonitoring methods.
