Dentist in the Meuchedet health fund network will be striking, beginning on Sunday. The strike will continue until further notice. The dentists are protesting a reduction in their salaries by a large amount over the past year. In a statement, the union representing the dentists said that this was “the first time in Israel's history that dentists are striking. We have had enough.”
The union attributed the salary cuts to the recent government decision to provide free dental care to children 18 and under. As a result, the statement said, parents felt that they could cut dental care outlay and use the free care they are eligible for.
