Partial Re-opening of Kerem Shalom Crossing

Israel decided, Thursday to partially re-open the Kerem Shalom Crossing - where Israel, Egypt and Gaza come together - to allow the transfer of merchandise and aid to Gaza, including a limited amount of diesel fuel for the Hamas-controlled area's power station and gas for cooking. The crossing has been closed a number of times this week because of terrorist missile fire on Israel.

Chairman Raeed Fatouh of the committee for bringing merchandise into Gaza, told the Bethlehem-based Ma'an news agency that 290-300 trucks will be laden with merchandise for the agricultural, trade and transportation sectors, 50 trucks will bring materials for United Nations Relief Works Agency projects, and 16 trucks will bring cement, metal and plaster. Another two trucks will bring equipment for the energy authority.
