Ari Abramowitz and Jeremy Gimpel, known for the Tuesday Night Live in Jerusalem TV show and their A Light Unto the Nations radio show are running for Knesset. The two will hold a live televised event in Jerusalem featuring three candidates for the head of the Jewish Home Party, known is Hebrew as the Bayit Yehudi Party. The three candidates are Knesset Minister Daniel Hershkowitz, Member of Knesset Zevulun Orlev, and Naftali Bennett.
Jeremy Gimpel spoke to the News & Views call-in show with Tamar Yonah on Arutz Sheva - Israel National Radio about their future plans. For full podcast interview click here.
"It's all about a true, faith-based message in a Jewish voice, instead of pragmatic politicians," Gimpel stated.
He said that unlike in the past, the Jewish Home Party, formerly known as the National Religious Party, is holding primaries for leadership positions and slots on the party list. Many smaller political parties do not hold primaries but appoint leadership positions. Several slots on the Jewish Home list are reserved for young leadership, which is what Abramowitz and Gimpel aspire to join.
"Israel is the most delightful country in the Middle East," Gimpel continued, "All of the good things you could have in a little country, Israel has it. But we have not been able to package our message to the world or within Israel."
Abramowitz and Gimpel are both reserve soldiers in the Israel Defense Forces and are well-known public speakers who have lectured around the world. Minister Hershkowitz is a rabbi, professor and the current head of the party. MK Orlev is a long-time Member of Knesset and former Minister of Welfare and Social Services. Bennett is a high-tech businessman, and Benyamin Netanyahu's former Chief of Staff.
The event will be held July 4th at Heichal Shlomo in Jerusalem.
