The heads of hareidi-religious Knesset factions met Wednesday with coalition head MK Zev Elkin to discuss calls for hareidi enlistment in the IDF or national service. The Plesner Committee will submit recommendations soon for replacements to the Tal Law, which allows hareidi men to study Torah full time rather than enlisting.
Reporters at the Knesset asked Deputy Health Minister Yaakov Litzman if he had slept well the night before. “I slept well,” he said. “We will not allow sanctions against hareidi men, just as there are no sanctions against Arabs [who also do not serve – ed.].”
