New research by Professor Alex Blai of the Ariel University Center seeks to explain why Judea and Samaria were not included in the partition plan that was originally intended to set Israel’s borders. At the time the plan was made Judea and Samaria – aside from being the heart of the Jews’ ancient homeland – were home to several Jewish communities. Gaza, too, was home to many Jews.

Blai spoke to Arutz Sheva and explained that the region was not included due to David Ben-Gurion’s opinion that Jews should focus on settling easily defensible areas with few Arab residents – an opinion still prevalent on the political left.
