Chairman Ya'akov Katz of the National Union party responded, Tuesday morning, to the beginning of the uprooting of the Ulpana neighborhood in Beit El by saying, "The people of Israel must stand up and repent for this terrible blunder." He added, "The correction will be made through mental, spiritual, political and national construction, which we are working on, which will find expression when the public that loves the land of Israel will mingle around us in the party of the land of Israel, which will be the central one in the next elections."
Ketzaleh continued, "This is destruction for the sake of destruction. Where else in the Western world have we found a neighborhood which they're destroying just to see mounds of dirt? Every place in the land of Israel where this would happen, intellectuals, such as Amos Oz and Gila Almagor would be lying on the fence and we don't see them here." He concluded, "The correction will come. This people is healthy and strong and they will overcome [what they are suffering]."
