Gainers barely outdid losers with modest changes in the opening minutes of trading, Tuesday, at the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. About a quarter of an hour into the session, the TA Composite Index stood at 968.90, up .02 percent. The same percentage gain meant a posting of 978.02 for the TA 100, including an advance of .15 percent to 1,067.52 by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues.
Leading the gainers were the bank stocks, which rose .61 percent to 874.88, as the financial institutions stood at 799.15, up .33 percent, including a .42 percent rise to 867.44 by the insurance index. Next came the oil and gas stocks at 1,092.61, up .09 percent. The real estate index declined .21 percent to 262.98 and the same percentage loss meant a posting of 349.30 for most of the technology issues, while the biomed stocks slumped .76 percent to 688.40. The communications and media index stood at 400.28, down .37 percent.
