Deputy Education Minister MK Menachem Eliezer Moses spoke in the Knesset on Sunday about the media’s treatment of protests led by hareidim as opposed to demonstrations that take place as part of the social protest.
“As a regular ritual, every public demonstration which calls to keep Shabbat is described in the media as violent, while the social protest which turned violent was described as a legitimate one,” Moses said, adding, “The media is engaged in perpetuating stereotypes against the hareidi sector. We saw it on Saturday night, when the demonstration in Tel Aviv in which damage was caused to public property and over 85 protesters were arrested was called a social protest by the media and the theme of the coverage was the damage to human rights.”
