J'm Prayer Gathering Against Drafting Yeshiva Students

Thousands of people, many dressed in mourning sackcloth, jammed Kikar Shabbat (Sabbath Square) in the Mea She'arim section of Jerusalem in a "morning watch" prayer gathering against the intention of lawmakers to draft yeshiva students for military or civilian national service.

Those in attendance read psalms and blew the shofar (ram's horn) as an alarm.
