Kara: Be Wary of Democracy in the Middle East

Deputy Minister Ayoub Kara reacted, Sunday evening, to the the victory of Mohammed Mursi in Egypt's presidential election by saying, "Mursi's election is further proof that democracy in the Middle East only passes via religion, which counters the belief of the free world."

Referring to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton of the United States, the Likud lawmaker added, "Mrs. Clinton had better internalize that real democracy is prefereable everywhere in the world, but a liberal dictator is preferable in our area to an imagined democracy whose content is religious fanaticism."
