The Health Ministry recommended, Sunday, against performing tests for the HIV virus in any place not recognized or regulated by the ministry. The ministry said the main reason is that the reliability of fast tests does not reach 100 percent and must be accompanied by a regular test.
A statement by the ministry read, "A quick self-performedcheck, unaccompanied bya normaltestresultmay lead to a falseresult.A falsepositiveresultmay lead tounnecessary and unjustified anxiety, whilea falsenegative resultmaygive falseconfidencethatthe patientis notcarrying [the virus]."
