Three Syrian pilots defected to Jordan, hours after a Syrian pilot broke formation during a training flight and took his MiG 21 to the Hashemite kingdom, according to a Sunday report in the Jordanian newspaper Al-Arab Al-Yaum. The newspaper says the pilots did not defect with their planes. It quoted an opponent of the Damascus regime as saying, "The threepilotsenteredJordanaftercrossing the borderillegally,and theywere housedin one of theprovincesof the kingdomafterthe authoritiesprovidedsecurity."
