Concern for Life of Hunger-Striking Soldier

Concern has been raised over the life of a soldier from a transport battalion who was convicted and jailed, about three months ago, for being absent without leave for 950 days and went on a hunger strike 37 days ago to protest denial of his request to be released because of his economic condition. Military prosecutors said the soldier should be released so that his condition does not get worse and his legal case can be dealt with later.
