A group of women have announced the establishment of an armed battalion in the city of Homs, comprised entirely of women whose goal is to fight the regime of Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad, according to a Friday report in Ash-Sharq Il-Awsat.

Battalion activists have posted a video clip on the Internet featuring a woman speaking on behalf of ten women, whose faces are covered. The woman says, "The missionof this battalionis touse different typesof weaponstodefend ourselves againstthe gangsofAssad,and to monitorthe crimesof the regime topublishthemin the media."
