Report: Women in Homs Fighting Assad

A group of women have announced the establishment of an armed battalion in the city of Homs, comprised entirely of women whose goal is to fight the regime of Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad, according to a Friday report in Ash-Sharq Il-Awsat.

Battalion activists have posted a video clip on the Internet featuring a woman speaking on behalf of ten women, whose faces are covered. The woman says, "The mission of this battalion is to use different types of weapons to defend ourselves against the gangs of Assad, and to monitor the crimes of the regime to publish them in the media."
