Turkey, France Restore Diplomatic Ties

Turkey has agreed to restore diplomatic ties with France and resume all economic, political and military cooperation with it, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu announced on Thursday.

Davutoğlu added that Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan ordered the move following a positive meeting with French President Francois Hollande. Ankara severed ties with Paris last December, after the lower house of the French Parliament voted in favor of a law which stipulated that denying the Armenian Genocide would be punishable by a jail sentence of up to one year and a 45,000 euro fine.
