Secretary of State Hillary Clinton of the United States said, Thursday, that there are entities in Iran who are interested in an Israeli attack on the Islamic Republic's nuclear facilities as a way to strengthen the regime in Tehran. Interviewed on public television, she said that the Iranian leadership was divided. On the one hand, there are those who stress the severe impact of sanctions against the program, including their prevention of economic development. On the other there are those who believe than an attack will rally the nation behind the regime.
Clinton added that the U.S. was serious about not letting Iran arm itself with nuclear weapons and start an unpredictable arms race in the region. She stressed that the regime is not legitimate and does not represent the will of the people.
