Ban Ki-Moon Talks to Ahmadinejad About Nukes, Syria

Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon of the United Nations talked to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran, Thursday, at the Rio+20 Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro, regarding the Tehran government's nuclear development program and the situation in Syria, according to Martin Nesirky, the spokesman for Ban.

The secretary-general and his predecessor, Kofi Annan, who is a special envory for the UN and the Arab League in Syria, asked for the Islamic Republic to take part in an upcoming gathering on the crisis in Syria which, diplomats say, will take place at the end of the month in Geneva.
