Tel Aviv Stocks End Week on an Off Note

Modest to moderate losses were posted at the end of the day, Thursday, on most of the indices at the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. The Tel Aviv Composite Index closed at 975.22, down .91 percent, while the TA 100 declined .41 percent to 985.12, including a .49 percent drop to 1,073.46 by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues.

The lone positive gain was recorded by the biomed stocks, which rose .64 percent 703.00, while the rest of the technology index finished the day at 354.58, down .45 percent. The real estate issues declined seven tenths of a percent to 269.77, while the oil and natural gas stocks closed at 1,096.73, down .88 percent. The communications and media index slumped 1.2 percent to 428.07 and the bank issues finished the day at 879.35, down 1.29 percent as the financial institutions fell 1.23 percent to 806.55, including a posting of 881.13, down 1.51 percent, by the insurance stocks.
