Treasury and Histadrut Discuss Contract Work

Representatives of the Finance Ministry and the Histadrut Labor Federation met Sunday in an effort to bridge the remaining gaps in an agreement to reduce the level of contract labor in the country, according to a Monday-morning report by Kol Yisrael government radio. The union wants workers employed by the state to be on the state payroll, with full benefits, as opposed to receiving only a salary from a personnel agency.

According to the report, the Treasury will examine, next week, judicial ways to implement a clause that applies to a pay hike given current guards and cleaning personnel and not just those who will be hired in the future. The parties agreed to meet again.
