Losses, ranging from modest to sharp, marked the end of trading on Thursday on most indices at the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. The TA Composite Index finished the day at 965.80, down .93 percent, while the same percentage decline meant a closing posting of 972.17 for the TA 100, including a 1.21 percent drop to 1,049.58 by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues. The 50 stocks just below the TA 100 closed at 364.21, down 1.31 percent.
Worst hit was the oil and natural gas index, which fell 2.13 percent to 1,089.62, followed by the bank issues, which finished the day at 891.25, down 1.22 percent as the financial institutions slipped .07 percent to 826.98, although the insurance stocks rose 1.65 percent to 945.29. The communications and media index advanced .33 percent to 447.39. The biomed issues closed at 706.41, down 1.17 percent while the rest of the technology stocks slumped .87 percent to 350.41, and the real estate index closed at 270.15, down .79 percent.
