Tunisia’s Ex-President Gets 20 Years

Former Tunisian President Zine el-Abidine Ben-Ali has been sentenced to 20 years in prison. He was convicted of inciting to violence as his family attempted to escape violent riots.

He was toppled from power in early 2011 after more than 20 years in office. His ouster sparked riots across the Arab world, and preceded the successful ouster of Hosni Mubarak in Egypt.
