The Knesset Interior and Environmental Protection Committee approved, Tuesday morning, a law to appoint Committee Chairman Amnon Cohen and Chairman David Rotem of the Constitution, Laws and Justice Committee as auditors of the Prisons Service. The appointmentwill allow them tovisit prisons at anytime without noticeto inspectthedetention conditions in a close anddirect manner.
The measurewas approvedin full agreementwith theDepartment of Public Safety andwill putIsrael in advanced international standing in terms ofprisonertreatment.The billwillgo to the Knesset very soon for final approval.
