Speaking Monday, Kadima chairman Shaul Mofaz praised his party's role in preventing approval of the Regulation Law, which would have ensured that residents of the Ulpana neighborhood of Beit El could have remained in their homes. “We prevented passage of that law, and this is a positive result not only for the coalition, but for Kadima,” Mofaz said. “I think this the first signal that Kadima has taken the coalition left,” he added.
Speaking at a meeting of Kadima MKs, Mofaz said that his next task would be to push talks between Israel and the PA. “Next week I will be in the U.S. for diplomatic talks, and I also plan to meet PA chief Mahmoud Abbas and discuss with him ideas to move the process forward. I think this is a good opportunity for the large coalition. One of Kadima's main tenets is advancing negotiations and achieving a settlement with the Palestinians,” Mofaz said.
