Posters Hit J'lem Light Festival for Idolatrous Imagery

Posters were hung this week in Jerusalem, calling for a protest against what they called "blasphemy in the streets of the city" due to "the placement of [forbidden] images next to the Temple". The posters refer to the Festival of Light taking place in and around the Old City. Although care was taken in the past to avoid Christian motifs, protesters say a number of the lighting arrangements in the Jaffa Road and Jaffa Gate areas contain reminders of crosses.

The posters say that because of the images, people going to the Old City and Mount Zion should take alternate routes until the end of the festival.
