Thousands of civilians and soldiers are expected in Samaria (Shomron) for the traditional march in memory of Tourism Minister Rechav'am Ze'evi, who was murdered by terrorists in 2001. The four-to-six kilometer route will start at the upper part of the Nachlat Kana Nature Reserve and finish in the community of Revava, with activities along the way for the whole family. Ceremonies with public figures are scheduled, including performances by Shai Gibsu and Aharon Razel.
The event is being organized by the Center to Perpetuate the Memory of Rechav'am Ze'evi in the Prime Minister's Office, the Samaria Regional Council and the organizers of the "Samaria Nice to Meet You" program. Chairman Gershon Mesika of the Samaria Regional Council noted that Ze'evi loved Samaria and was the first general of the Israel Defense Forces' Central command after the liberation of the area in the Six Day War. Mesika said Ze'evi planned and established the first Jewish communities in the area.
